this interview. not for the faint of heart or those sensitive to profanity.

My TV Has a Personality: Milo Ventimiglia
The Green Room
May 10, 2002
Milo Ventimiglia is burning in the minds of teen girls everywhere due to his role as Jess on the surprise hit series, "Gilmore Girls". What may be a surprise to his fans however, is that he has quite the knack for using the 'love them or hate them' four-letter words, something that I am personally a big fuckin' fan of. (Ok, so that's using six letters, but you get my point!)

Don't let my swearing take away from Milo the actor though, because he is the real deal. So much so that Warner Brothers paid him to NOT work for a whole year. Does that sound a little confusing? Well, it did to us as well, so we went ahead and had Milo give us the lowdown.

JB: How are you?

MV: Ugh. I'm fuckin' wrecked! We had a wrap party last night. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't do anything…but I bowled like a crazy muther.

JB: (Laughter) So it was a long night?

MV: Yeah it was a long night! (Laughter)

JB: And nothing hurts more than an early morning interview.

MV: Actually this isn't too early. I got back last night and saw that I had the interview in the morning. I woke up like half an hour ago and my publicist said the interview was pushed back by an hour. I was just like, "Great" and I really didn't have any idea what was going on. I got up and I checked the fax and saw the interview was bumped, so I went back to bed.

JB: I admire your perseverance.

MV: (Laughter) Thanks, man.

JB: So shooting is done for the year!

MV: Yeah. We wrapped up last Friday. I have a nice three and a half months off. I feel like I'm back in school. I felt like saying, "Have a bitching summer and see you next Fall!"

JB: "Please sign my yearbook." (Laughter)

MV: I swear to God that's what it feels like. It's crazy.

JB: Anything planned for the hiatus?

MV: So far I have no work lined up, but I'd really love to continue working. As of right now though, nothing.

JB: Enjoy the time off!

MV: Yeah! I'm sure I'll find something to do. Some kind of trouble to get into. I just bought a house, so I'm remodeling that. I'm doing a lot of handy work around that place.

JB: Some exciting summer Home Depot trips are in your future.

MV: Oh man! There is a 24-hour Home Depot right near my house.

JB: There are 24-hour Home Depots? That's crazy!

MV: Yeah! So at three in the morning I'll be banging away and turning on my circular saw…just going for it.

JB: Tell me about your WB holding deal? What exactly did that consist of? Is it that you couldn't go and work for another network?

MV: Basically…yeah! They said, "Here's a lot of money and don't work for anybody else. We don't have anything for you, so you're going to be sitting for awhile." That was an interesting thing.

JB: Was it hard convincing family members that it actually happened? I'd imagine it was difficult to describe to people that you were getting paid to not work?

MV: Not with my family members because they run my books for me, so they saw the checks. Convincing my friends was another a thing. They'd be like, "What are you doing today?" "Well, I think I'm going to go to the beach." They'd be like, "Dude, you said that like two months ago…what are you really doing today?" "I think I'm going to go to the beach." (Laughter) And then the next day I'd be like, "I think I'm going to go to Europe." I was just out of my head bored. Warner Brothers didn't have anything for me to do, so I had to go to do something. The first month or two of being in the deal was fine…I was just hanging out around in LA, going to my parent's house in Orange County or catching up with old friends. Six months into things I was like, "fuck this shit…I've got to go do something!"

JB: So it lasted for quite some time?

MV: Oh man, it was like a year. They wanted to hold me for almost like two years, but my management team said no.

JB: Could you at least do film?

MV: Yeah. I could do film. In the course of the contract, I did book a film and they did release me to do a guest spot on CSI. They also let me do a commercial or two. There were opportunities but they were getting ready to put me in a show. The holding deal kind of had nothing to do with "Gilmore Girls".

Pilot season came around and I was only reading for the studio's pilots because the contract was with the studio and not the network. I was reading for other pilots and nothing was clicking. I read for "Smallville" and all of these different pilots and for one reason or another I just wasn't getting them. The producers were like, "He's great, but we're not interested." I read for a pilot that was outside of my contract and the producers were really excited about me and Warner Brothers was going to let me out of the contract. At the last minute they said "no" and sent me in for this one pilot and then I tested for it. Next thing I know I was in a meeting with the casting directors for "Gilmore Girls" and the part was a guest spot with the possibility of returning. It wasn't as a series regular or anything. They brought me back to the producers the day of my studio test and that night they called and said, "Hey, we want you to be a series regular." That kind of threw an interesting twist on the contract because it was geared towards putting me in a new show, not an existing show.

JB: Prior to that or even now, do you get yourself worked up about pilot season?

MV: I think this is the first season that I really didn't think about it. I didn't have to audition because I was on a show and I knew we were coming back. I had a contract so now I could focus on my work. I've talked to some of my friends who are actors and they are going crazy and here I am at the craft service table. It was nice to not have to worry about that. Pilots are stressful as it is because you don't know if they'll get picked up. There are some like "Smallville" where they are filming the pilot, knowing that they were picked up for 22 episodes. I'm sure it makes you feel a little more comfortable.

JB: Have you found yourself getting noticed more?

MV: Occasionally. I'm still a nobody, which I enjoy because I can just go about my business. Time to time I'll get somebody who says, "Are you that guy on Gilmore Girls?" They freak out for a second. I was out to dinner with some friends the other night and some girl walked up to me. She was probably about 15 or something. We were finished eating and I was sitting back. The girl walks up and asks, "Excuse me…are you from Gilmore Girls?" I say yes and she asks if her sister can have my autograph. I say, "Yeah that's cool, but where is your sister?" "She's over there but she's a little embarrassed." I said, "Do you want me to go meet her?" I got up and went to meet her. You can tell the people that are genuinely excited about meeting someone who's on TV and I try to relate to them as, "I'm just a person and I'm not larger than life!" It's fun for them though and in a way it's kind of fun for me.

JB: Since jumping in "Gilmore Girls", you've appeared in your share of teen oriented magazines. Have you been the subject of jokes because of it?

MV: Oh my God! Yeah! Oh yeah! One of my oldest friends used to rip on me when we were in college. He's always known that I wanted to be an actor and when we got to the age where we understood the publicity end of it, he would give me crap about Tiger Beat and Teen Beat. I'd be like, "I just want to act and I'm not going to go that whole route." Now my mom was in a grocery store and pulled up a Tiger Beat and my picture was in it. I was like, "You've got to be fuckin' kidding me!" Then I popped up in Teen Beat and others. It's crazy. Hopefully other things will come up. I did a thing for Seventeen that comes out this month and just some other random stuff.

JB: They ask those weird, "What's your favorite color?" kind of questions.

MV: Oh my God. Nothing against the magazines because they definitely have their purposes, but I don't want to answer questions like "Do you have a girlfriend" and "What is your favorite color". Answering more adult questions is more intriguing and that's the vibe I'd like to give off.

(Silence)

MV: My favorite color is black by the way!

hola! I've been MIA for a bit, after the 'net didn't work when you were here, it never got back up. today some people just came to fix it, it's working now!!! yay!!!

LoL so there ya go...oy I REALLY hope you can come....:( if not try to call or send me an email....something...

I've never seen major payne...It was Mamma Mia..good show quite enjoyable....except for the whole really hard to walk in shoes. That was today was probably the most exercise I've had since pe ended. ...that's sad I need to get out more. It was very enjoyable today thanks for taking me :) I'm sure I'm in for a great sleep tonight! :D Tomorrow morning I got to pack, going to aunts house, kinda stinks the boys have their friends over from AZ so might feel kinda left out...oh well. I haven't seen them in a while it'll be okay.

HELP! Okay when I got home tonight I got a call from Linda (hua) you know she lives in modesto right? Well I'm okay friends with her not the absolute greatest.......but kinda. Anyway, every year she invites me to her birthday party and this year she even drove out here to pick us up and drop us back home....so like i said earler she called me saying she was coming here on Friday...the day of my party...I don't think I'll be doing anything in the morning early afternoon time but I don't know what to tell her! She called Janice and janice said she was free...I'm not sure if Janice said anything about my party...I forgot to tell janice to keep it kind of a secret, although I did tell her only you and tiff and chrissy were invited, if Linda finds out I'm afraid she'll get mad at me for not inviting her...and I'll feel bad. ARUGH as soon as you get this call me or im me if i'm online...of just talk to me at the meeting...if you don't get it before the meeting I'll tell you then....

Which character from Lilo & Stitch are you?

Wednesday, July 17, 2002

"the bloody hell was that neighbor just watchin' for? why didn't she try and stop the mad woman??? " don't mind that, that was a mix of too much BBC america and american idol (ah the lovely simon) and too many things going on. and The Winter Guest.

I need to get out of this funk..I need to get to sleep.

Tuesday, July 16, 2002

"The neighbor said the woman then took the animal inside and put it in her oven, adding that he looked through the window and saw the feline was still alive and moving." WHAT the bloody hell was that neighbor just watchin' for? why didn't she try and stop the mad woman??? some people.....well at least she called the police!...

Yeah, that's how Tristin leaves...sentence away...Romeo and Juliet...eh don't remember much of it. I thought we did do hamlet in jr. year? or sometime...oh well. LoL at the commercial..oookie dokie Al.

that article...about the christian people and animals...when one of the women at Tiff's church was talking to me about the after life etc...and she said well you know there's no doggy heaven or anything...I just nodded my head like i had been for the past half hour, but I thought to myself..."There's some place where dogs and animals have to go why can they go to either heaven or hell? I don't know I suppose there's a lot more to it, but I like to think there's a place for everyone...including animals."

:D DEFINANTLY rent "The Winter Guest" but yeah two things, one: Osbourne lanugage and two: it's more of a chick flick. saw part of that movie "Little Voice" that Ewan was in...I don't know I only saw the last five minutes, but he had a comb over and he looked a bit eh...I don't know looked like a psycho movie.

Geeze this has to be the busiest month for me. Let's see I think the rest of this week I"m fine, but on Saturday I have to go to a show with my cousin, and then Sunday I'm going with you to the AIDS walk and then monday there's a classboard meeting, and then I'll probably going to stay over my aunts house for a couple of days and then I have to go buy food for my party and then I'm havning the party and then on the 28th there's a car wash and then I'm going out to dinner with my aunt to a nice restaurant, it's our birthday gift from her. and then in aug. 6 I have another dentist appt. OY. who knows what's in between all of that? oy. so yes. LoL rent the winter guest, odd articles those are. and good epi of GG. :D

 ooh so it's near by, and what kind of dog would it be? hm...but you're dad's still pretty set on the no thing...:( so I remember Micheal Schwartzman..but who is Robert? besides his brother?

I'm having waaaaaay to much fun with this...I'm glad I found this web site tho..dont' worry I'll delete all these useless posts after.... :D

A very touching movie that is...if I ever get a kitten I'm going to name her "Fanny"
Just saw part of the winter guest, the movie sean's in. It's hilarious. You should watch it when you can, they part he's in he's with a friend and his friend is looking for rocks, and under one is a "big fat skoosy worm!" and then sean goes over to investigate and find that's it's a used condom. Then his friend flips out and starts praying and sean goes you praying to God? and his friend goes no, "to my aunt fanny" LoL, it's hilarious and then he goes on his little rant about how his balls'll never drop. You've got to see it...hilarious!

LoL that's all a taco salad is suppose to be, sometimes I crush tortilla chips on top for some crunch...sounds good. Did a load of errands, went SF to drop my sister off at a party, went to grandma's house to drop of groceries, grandma came in car, dropped off mom's friends kids, went to pick up sister, went to j-town for grandma, went to grandma's house came back. whew!
LoL cool I love the top caption of the web site "What more could you want..." LoL funny stuff! :D I went to be around 1:45AM...go up at 9...oy. good I'm not the hugest fan of ants. Where are you getting the dog from, keep it away from evil or else he will convert the other one to evil-ness. not good. LoL I hope this one likes me....
...............care to explain why're YOU'RE STILL HOME?! or at least on the puter?! Oy. I like clean shaven Ewan...he can sing....don't forget my tapes...and dvd..oy i need to keep better track of my stuff  I also need to get my Moulin Rouge soundtrack back from tiff.
Ugh I am so tired, went to bed at 1:45AM last night and then got up at 7:15, it's like 1:30 now, I don't know when I"ll get to bed, mom's friend's kids are here and her younger daughter i think she's like 14 was stuck on my puter playing neopets, she still has a phone modem and they only have one line in their house so she doesn't get on much and hardly ever at a high speed. So she's been playing since like 11...they just got off and now they're in my bathroom cleaning up. The older one's cool she's like 17..i was talking to her for a bit. k gtg i am SO tired right now. uggah. tomorrow I have to get up at like 9 :(

Saturday, July 13, 2002

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYA YOU'RE GONNA BE THERE! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOO :D so you're leaving after the car wash. your mom's feeling a bit better?

LoL the surprise was her taking me to the San Francisco Symphony. It was great such a great performance, they played Vivaldi's Four Seasons. One of my favs. wonderful. But as with me nothing comes easy so I had to wear my clunkers right I hate walking those absolutely hate it ucky. For the restaurant we went to Four Seasons Cafe, not bad, good food good desserts. We were running kinda late so we "speed" walked to her car, I was jogging, in those stupid things it easier for me to run than walk, most of the time we were running late so I was running in those supid things for probably about 45 mins total. SO we get there, and then we park etc. when we get to the top floor she checks if she has the tickets. none. she searches all over her purse. none. We go back to the car. none. We go back upstairs. none. so this went on for about 20 minutes up stairs back down all the time she's like speed walking and I'm running in my clunkers. for after those 20 mins. of her searching saying "i just saw them" etc. She checks the back seat and there they are. My legs more than my feet are sore, I think I did more running than I did in all of freshman pe. any way we got there JUST as the lights went down and it was a great performance. dude people right in front of us got some bogus tickets. The dude was like I can't accept these, they have no row or seat number. I dunno we rushed in to get there on time but I wonder what they did...but wow my feet are sore.

Friday, July 12, 2002

al i hate dressing up, my cousin is taking me to a show and I have do dress up. Do you know the last time I dressed up? neither do I. It's been so long that i had to search for my shoes and when I found them there was a FAT layer of dust on top. In my "nice" purse I had REALLY old recolas..lol and that's it. I'm not a big fan of dressing up. I couldn't find knee highs without the renforced toe so I had to use the ones with and just put it under my feet. I SO hope the don't run. ugh. I don't like dressing up. I am not a fan of it.

Hope you had fun today! :D

now can you say cutie patootie or what?

I can't see picture, send to me later.

As with anything I ever want to buy I must work for it. ARUGH! K, here goes. I had it all planned. I was going to go to Circut City with my mom after dinnner to go buy AW2R for $15.99. No prob. AH HA! BUT THERE IS! Mom goes there before she come hom and finds out that it's sold out. SO We go to Target for as a second resort where AW2R is on sale for $17.99. it's two dollars more, but that's okay. so we get to target driving in the stinking hot car. and NONE. No sign, no little sign, no advertisement. my conclusion: someone didn't get off their fat lazy arse to unload the shipment. they did not sell out. But they had Avril Lavigne's cd on sale for $7.99 so I looking ALL OVER THE FRICKIN "L" SECTION why? because all of the other artists are put in alphabetical order by last name. so guess where hers was. DING DING DING in the A section. After 10 mins of searching I go to cash regester to ring it up. SO AS A LAST RESORT Mom takes me to K-mart. (did you know Justin Thurman works there? i was walking right down an isle...and boom out of no where I hear a "Hi Teri" and I turn my head back and go uh Hi! and wave...and then I'm zooming down. I WANT MY DVD. so I finally see it there for $19.99. gr hella expensive but at least I have it. Now my sister has it. She said she's going to just go and borrow it for one day. But I was planning to watch the comentary tomorrow morning. She doesn't have the best track record for returning my things. i.e. cd's that took four months to get back, nail polishes she takes with out asking which pisses me off even more. and if I don't have my DVD back tomorrow by 3:00 PM. Al put your ear plugs in because it doesn't matter where you will be you will hear me scream and yell. I won't be pretty.

I don't have air conditioning, we have fans, but no air conditioning. my aunt does, but she's out of town. we have to water her plants. have fun at uncles tomorrow!

did you know that the eggplant is called an "aubergine" in the UK?

Sunday, July 07, 2002

ooh now that you said your dream I'll tell you mine. K first one was really nice and a good feeling.
K this is just short and really random. I was sleeping on my bed and guess who was there? Mark! I haven't had a dream with him in it in a long time or ever. and it was so weird. I don't remember saying anything, but I just was in his arms sleeping and it was kinda bright, not direct sunlight but kinda bright and I remember feeling so secure and safe there I could have slept for the rest of my life there.

k, dream number two....really weird i guess kinda more of a nightmare.

I dunno I was in this like underground cave, and there's some lava and a rollercoaster. and I'm there with another girl, I'm not sure who and Ewan. we were standing on this little edge trying to think of a way out. We were like stuck there and It gets kinda fuzzy, but Ewan gets on the rollercoaster and we're like no, begging him not to go, but he goes anyways. And like half way on the ride I hear this excruciating scream, it's his and he's hit this blue goo. But it's more like acid and it's like eating away at him, I didn't see him because I turned around but I kept on hearing his scream and it was horrible.
I think I'll just remember the first one :D

Which Rainbow Brite kid are you? By Growing.

TWO DAYS UNTIL A WALK TO REMEMBER COMES OUT! WAAAHHOOOOOOO I'm going to go to Circut City because they have it on sale for $15.99 and then I'm going to go to target, they have Avril Lavgine's cd for $7.99 :D yay! I dunno If already sent you this vid, but when you come back I have to send you this video...uber cool.

Hey al! I'm stoked! LoL I just got a response back from this radio station. One of the Deejays was on the radio asking about why Nelly's new song was called "Hot in Herre" with 2 R's. This radio station is in england so I'm not sure they totally get how he talks, (lol) so I tried to explain how he pronounces more like "her" than "here" and any way I sent it off yesterday. I wasn't really expecting a response because i'm sure they get a lot and the last one I sent to a different radio station I no response back. But I just got one! yay! LoL I'm a dork but I just thought I'd let you know. Here was her reply
"I'm relieved to know that no-one else is quite sure what it's all about either! Perhaps Nelly's just in his own little world...bless him! x"

cool beans! Do I need a sheet or sign up thing for the AIDS walk?

My Mums Spottier Dick

> See this recipe on-air on 07/13/2002 at 9:30 PM ET.

Recipe courtesy Jamie Oliver

This is a proper 'blokes' pudding ? loads of custard, a little warmed syrup over the top, and even some cream. Superb!
4 ounces (115 grams) suet
4 1/2 ounces (120 grams) dried apricots, chopped
8 ounces (240 grams) raisins or sultanas
1 orange, zested
4 1/2 ounces (120 grams) plain flour
4 1/2 ounces (120 grams) sugar
4 1/2 ounces (120 grams) bread crumbs
2 tablespoons grated ginger (or to taste)
Pinch grated nutmeg
Pinch salt
1 egg, beaten
1 pint (140 milliliters) milk

Grease a 3-pint (1 liter) pudding basin. Mix all the ingredients together, except the egg and milk. Add the beaten egg and milk and mix well. (I do this in a mixer but you can do it by hand, no problem).

Put the mixture in the basin, cover with tin foil or a cloth, and put the basin in a pan with water half-way up the sides of the basin. Bring the water to a boil, put on a tight-fitting lid, and simmer for 3 hours, remembering to top up with (add more) boiling water now and then.

Yield: 6 servings
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 3 hours
Difficulty: Easy

I just figured I'd put that there Just incase you'd want to make it...but did he have to put "My Mum's..." that isn't really respectful now is it...

Ah factoring...fuuuun stuff! yay! uhyeah, YOU HAVE TO PASS! Canadia cool...LoL say "zed" and "aboot" for me, my mom's going with her friend and they're going to stay at her cousin or friends house. My aunt and uncle also going (different time) they're going to take a plane to Seattle, go around there for a bit and then drive around BC. I'm glad all of your hermies enjoyed the tub... :D Funny you talk about shane...here's how my night went...Okay so i totally forgot...tisk tisk tisk on me..right? She called me before she was going to come over to pick me up, (she told me we were going to dinner like thrus. or maybe earlier?) and good thing she just called then or else she would have missed me, I was just on my way out to go to my aunts house for dinner. It took me a bit to remember I was like go out to dinner? what? now? huh? then *ping* light bulbe turns on. LoL but Tiffany went out to dinner for her birthday and we went to a Japanese Buffet at Stoneridge...Pretty expensive...122 for 5 people...ack...But it was good food and tiffany was thouroughly enjoying crawfish tails...making them talk and move...oy. Once we were done, and really full, we were deciding what to do....we figured anything which required any movement was totally out of the question (bowling, ice skating) so she wanted to watch a movie, she had already seen Lilo and Stitch, and nothing else was out that we both had not seen. So then she thought of going to Blockbuster. Once there we decided that we all get to choose a movie, me her and her sister. I was so torn! There was On the Line (which she never saw with me), Kate and Leopold (she really didn't want to see that) and then Moulin Rouge, she's never seen it before and you know me...and how much I love that movie...so I decided to make that my pick. I was really tempted to take on the line too...decisions decisions. She had her choice, she wanted to rent "The Others" but dude I was not up for a scary movie...I don't like scary movies in the day time and I hate them at night...ew. So I got to see Ewan again. Wow. it gets better everytime. Tiffany thought it was alright...I think she didn't like it too much...too sad...and we also rented "Oceans 11" that was definantly more her movie. She loved it action, some comedy and just really smart. She really liked it and said that she was going to watch it again. LoL and here I am now at 2:05AM. still very full but not yet tired....

I can't wait to see the pictures... YAY! no batteries...so no mugshots? :( aw durn. Wear a skirt tomorrow! yay! LoL I don't think I'll have enough time to pick up balloons tho, by the time my sister get's home it will be about 1, and then it takes 15 mins. to get to school. If I had thought of it earlier today I could have put in an order, but I forgot and I don't know what I want ...I wish I could drive. phooy. OOh, it's frickin hot today and you had to do yard work :( sorry. I hate yard work even more so in the heat...:( wow it's 2:06AM.
